The festival was started in 2012 by Jess D’Ath and Steph Kokay as a way of giving schools and students a platform for performing contemporary music, and to give ‘Pops’ choirs an opportunity to shine. Workshops for students and teachers have always run alongside the evening concerts. What started as ‘Voices Of Canterbury’ has always had the vision of encouraging participation and enjoyment as well as excellence in performance, in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment. Each night finishes with a massed item from all the students present; always a thrilling finale.
The festival has grown in size and scope every year, and, after featuring more than 1000 students over three nights in 2017, needed to expand to four nights in 2018 due to the demand from schools!
The 2019 dates are September 16th-19th, at ‘Papa Hou’ City YMCA, Hereford St.
